Roy Smeck, known as The Wizard of the Strings!

Master of Steel guitar, tenor banjo and ukulele. Early big musical star – appeared in the first movie with sound – “Vita-phone” pictures. First to record a multi-track performance – on film, in 1933. Created method books for many instruments, and inspired Mel Bay to create a publishing empire. Built an endorsement empire with Harmony Instruments – his name is on instruments from five decades. Always devoted time to music education – even at the height of his popularity. Played in virtually every city in America, as well as touring the globe.
