2014 Strings for Food Restring Event

Saturday, November 8, 10-2

Our fourth annual Food For Strings event was a great success! Big thanks to Paul Fairchild, who worked all day with Ted to restring 34 guitars. We collected a ton of food: ten cases were delivered to the Good Shepard Food Pantry.

Donate food, get your guitar restrung for free! This is a food drive to benefit the Good Shepard Lutheran Church Food Pantry in Viroqua.  Parrish Music will restring your steel string acoustic or electric guitar for no charge with a food donation.  First come first serve, until we run out of time or strings.  Please donate a minimum of four non-perishable items per instrument (no upper limit).   Sorry, no classicals, 12 strings, basses, or Floyd Roses.  Help the needy in our community and sound great to boot!

World Roots Music Series at the Ark in Viroqua

We are proud to sponsor and program this fantastic music series at the Ark.

Tonight! November 15th it is the incomparable Alfonso Ponticelli with Swing Gitan. Serious gypsy jazz music on guitar and violin. Concert is at 7:30, gypsy jazz workshop open to all instruments at 2:30 at the store. Call the store for more details.

We are Southwestern Wisconsin’s premier folk instrument shop. We carry unusual and hard to find musical instruments from around the world, alongside a wide selection of acoustic and electric guitars, ukuleles, banjos, dobros, mandolins, drums, orchestral instruments, and all the necessary musical accessories.

We both play parlor guitars, and we specialize in small body guitars from a variety of makers, from orchestra and concert models to parlors, mini, and travel guitars.  You’ll love the sweet tone and comfort of these models.

We also carry the Midwest’s best selection of ukuleles, and often have over forty models on the wall.  Ted has played ‘uke for two decades, and brings that experience to our ukulele classes and to help you find the perfect ‘uke.

In Catherine’s ‘flute corner’ you will find new and used concert flutes for sale and available to rent, alongside flutes from Ireland, India, Japan, and South America.  We also carry locally crafted Native American Flutes from two different makers.

We offer lessons on guitar, ukulele, banjo, bass, flute, and voice,  and have a great rental program.  We accept trades and consignments, and buy and sell used instruments.

Have fun exploring our site and be sure to stop in our store and say “hello”.
